Haut a Courroies

The rare Haut a Courroies bag is getting more attention this season having been highlighted during Paris fashion week.  The name Haut a Courroies can be loosely translated as “high belts” to refer to the belts used to close the bag.  Beautifully hand-crafted, it was first created back in the late 1800s to transport hunting gear and riding equipment, and today, it is used primarily as a travel bag.  The Haut a Courroies or HAC, for short, is the predecessor of the Birkin, which was made as a smaller, shorter, longer-strapped version.

This bag is genderless, but perhaps because of its size and proportion, I find it looks very elegant and beautiful carried by a man.
